Recipe: Frisch’s Tartar Sauce Marinated Grilled Chicken Sandwich
by Alan Cornett
The good folks at Frisch’s Big Boy invited me to prepare a recipe for National Tartar Sauce Day on March 3 using their famous tartar sauce. I was happy to agree. We’re conditioned to think “fish” when we hear tartar sauce, but I wanted to try a different spin.
I started with chicken tenders that I marinated in Frisch’s Tartar Sauce in a zip lock bag overnight in the refrigerator. With the recent warm weather I thought it would be a perfect time to put the marinated chicken tenders on the grill.
With my grilled chicken, I began to construct a sandwich worthy of the taste. I started the sandwich with a high quality bun from Bluegrass Baking Company that I toasted lightly on the grill. I added a layer of Frisch’s Tartar Sauce, covered it with lettuce, and placed my marinated grilled chicken tenders on top. Next came two pieces of bacon (of course!). Then finally, to give the sandwich that right Kentucky twist, I added a layer of Hall’s Beer Cheese to the top bun: the Frisch’s Tartar Sauce Marinated Grilled Chicken Sandwich.
Combine the sandwich with a side of fries with Frisch’s Tartar Sauce for dipping and you have the perfect twist on a classic.
